Privacy policy

What we collect

Nothing you type. When you answer the tool's questions, the calculation happens on your device and the result is written into the page address so you can bookmark or share it. That address stays with you. The site is static files with no database behind it, so there is nowhere here for your answers to be stored even if we wanted them.

One exception, and we'd rather name it than bury it: when a calculation finishes we count that it happened, along with the number of bedrooms you picked. That's under Traffic measurement below. It's a tally, not a record of you.

There are no accounts, no sign-in, no forms, and no newsletter.

Traffic measurement

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they land on. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't fingerprint your device, and doesn't build a profile of you across sites. We see aggregate counts, not individuals.

We also count two things the tool itself does, so we can tell whether it's any use: that a calculation finished, and that someone clicked through to Amazon. Each one sends a single short message with one word in it: the number of bedrooms you picked, or which size band the box count fell into. That's the entire message. No cookie, no identifier of any kind, nothing that could link two visits together, and no list of what you're moving.

We keep counts, not visits. We can tell you that eleven people finished a calculation for a 3-bedroom home yesterday; we have no way to tell whether that was eleven people or one person eleven times, and we've built it so we never can.

Affiliate links

This site participates in the Amazon Associates Program. Where you see a link or button to buy boxes or supplies, we earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are labelled where they appear, and we never put one in an email. If you save a plan for later, that link is always to a page on this site, not to Amazon directly.

Advertising

This site carries ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technology to serve and measure ads, and in some cases to personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. Google's own explanation of what it collects when you use a partner site is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We don't have access to what those cookies contain, and we can't tie them to anything you did in the counting tool, because your answers never leave your device. The only thing the tool reports is the bare counts described under Traffic measurement, which carry nothing that identifies you.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to other sites, including our own whatsizestorage.com and, where noted, Amazon. Once you follow a link, that site's privacy policy applies, not this one.

Children

This site isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect anything from them.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there's nothing for us to hand over, correct, or delete on request. For the ad and analytics providers named above, use their controls, which are linked in those sections.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
