About this site
A box count for your own move, split by size, with nothing to sign up for. You answer a few questions and get a number you can take to the store.
Why it exists
Every box retailer sells a "moving kit" sized by bedroom count, and most kits run large, because a bigger kit is a bigger order. This site has no kit to sell. Tell it your home size, who lives there, how long you've lived there, and how much you've accumulated, and it gives you a count broken down by box size rather than a total you have to guess how to split.
The split is the part that actually matters at the store. Buying the wrong ratio of small to medium means a second trip mid-pack for whichever size runs out first, and that's the mistake this tool is built to prevent.
Where the numbers come from
Box counts are calibrated against the ranges the major retailers and moving companies themselves publish for each home size, then split by box size using the same reasoning a mover uses: heavy and dense goes in small boxes, bulky and light goes in large ones. The packing timeline works the same way. It's built from the box counts, not a separate guess.
Who makes it
FourFold Labs LLC, a small software company. Our other moving tool is whatsizestorage.com, which answers the storage-unit-size question instead of the box-count one. Same underlying numbers, different question.
Get in touch
If a number here looks wrong, tell us and say why. That's the most useful mail we get. support@fourfoldlabs.com.
How this is paid for
Ads, and links to buy the boxes themselves, which earn us a commission when you use them. Those links are labelled where they appear. Nothing about that changes what the tool tells you. The count comes from your answers, not from what's for sale.
